societyA curates: SS25 Trends Forecast

Always one foot in the present, another in the future, societyA keeps its finger on the pulse of culture. The societyA team had the exclusive opportunity to preview what’s next in fashion during the international fashion circuit for SS25. Here are some the key trends observed from our favourite contemporary labels.

Sportstyle 2.0

The spirit of athleisure lives on in new forms in SS25, exploring different facets of sportsmanship. As the ties between sporting and fashion cultures tighten, we find new ways to satiate our fascination with sports. Titled “The Rose Fist”, Yuhan Wang’s SS25 collection takes inspiration by the spirit of athleticism, especially in the world of boxing. Beyond conventional materials of nylon and technical fabrics, the label envisions conventionally masculine sportswear pieces in a hyperfeminine lens that includes key pieces such as boxers in lacy shorts, silk gloves, frilly compression tops and exaggerated football jerseys.

A Ray of Lightness

Endlessly inspiring, Mother Nature and her creations prove to be always en vogue. Taking flight for Spring Summer 25 are designs that pays homage to avians in all their feathery glory. To embody the divine elegance of hummingbirds and swallows, David Koma presents a playful, effervescent collection. At their Paris showroom, a room full of delectable garments made of fine lace, jersey and silk mesh which showcases lightness in motion and the divine elegance of these creatures were present in the collection of soft pastels, ruffles and iridescent adornments.

Opulent and Ornate

For Spring/Summer 25, designers explore themes of self-expression by fully embracing an unbounded sense of opulence. Why assimilate and shy away when you can stand out to blaze new paths of your own? Decorated in metallic appliqués and smothered in handprints, these are the key details that make a statement on AREA’s runway. This collection mixes elements of punk and fetishism with sartorial tailoring, presenting an unapologetic spirit of rebellion.

A Spotlight on Artisans

In recent years, the notion of what makes luxury fashion a form of luxury has been widely discussed. Is it only luxury when it is on the nose; or can luxury be subversive in ways that only serve the wearer and those who pay close attention? Jacques Wei presents a collection that demonstrates the fine mastery of his artisans where garments in his SS25 collection feature the use of innovative knitwear and unexpected use of hardware—ceramic monkeys for belts and metal-made animals for buttons.
