Fruit Animal Clear Hair clip

Three small animal heads in frosted clear rubber are lined up along one barrette on the Fruit Animal Clear Hair clip, with the leftmost one showing cat-style whiskers. The clip measures 6.9 cm by 2.6 cm, so it is a long, narrow shape and not a round one.

The spec lists brass, 18K gold plating, cubic zirconia, synthetic rubber and gold-plated iron for the spring, and a weight of 22.8 g. In the photos the frame is a silver tone with a border of rounded, bead-like bumps that run around the outside and between the heads. The heads sit inside that frame as the only fill, and their translucent finish lets the frame show through.

There are two photos. The flat one shows the full front of the barrette with the three heads, and the worn one shows it clipped at the side of the head, above the ear, on a model with a low ponytail and clear-framed glasses. The clip is placed at the side of the head, which is the position that makes the length of the barrette visible.

Since the heads and the glasses are both clear, the two read as one finish, and the silver frame is the only metal in the look. With dark hair the pale heads stand out well. With light hair they would blend in more, so the silver frame carries the outline.

The spring in the spec means this is a clamp-style barrette, so the most useful placement is on a section of hair you gather up or sweep back, not on a single loose strand. The spec lists 22.8 g, which is worth weighing against how fine your hair is.

The heads are rubber, so keep the clip away from heat and wipe it with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
